Ryuyo Kaiyo, a campsite for beginners campers.

Image
Last week my kids and I tried this campsite in Iwata recommended by inHamamatsu website https://www.inhamamatsu.com/activity/recommended-campsites.php , called Ryuyo Kaiyo (marine park) auto-camp. This campsite is only 30 minutes drive from Hamamatsu station.   Ryuyo Kaiyo campsite is perfect for families with small children and beginner campers. You could even be spontaneous, come empty-handed because there are plenty of rental items like; tent, tarp, chairs, BBQ grill, table, etc. The facility in Ryuyo Kaiyo campsite is one of the best compare to other campsites. There are toilets, sinks to wash your plates and grill, shower-rooms, activity toys for kids to borrow, and even washing machines. They also provide a small square wooden deck for you to put your grill or fire-pit.  The shower fee is 100yen for 6 minutes. It opens from 8AM to 10PM. There is also a hot spring bathing facility where you can easily drop in next to the campsite. In Ryuyo Marine Park campsites...

Ryugashido, a mysterious great limestone cavern

Image
Ryugashido Cavern, located in the Okuhamana Lake area, is one of the largest limestone caves in the Tokai region, formed in a limestone area that is said to be a stratum of about 250 million years ago. The total length of the cave is about 1000 meters, the first 400 meters are open to the public. The average annual temperature in the cave is 18 ° C, and it feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter, so you can explore the comfortable underground. This is a place where you can heal your mind with nature and experience the world that you don't usually see.  One of the highlights of Ryugashido is Golden Otaki (waterfalls).  The fall of the waterfall is about 30m, and Otaki, which flows down vigorously from above the cave, is natural art that can only be seen in Ryugashido.  Another highlight is Seven lucky Gods of knowledge.  A stalactite with a rare appearance like the Seven Lucky Gods on a treasure ship.  At the end of the tunnel, there's a cavern museum. It...

Hamamatsu Air Park will take you TO THE SKY

Image
One of the best places in Hamamatsu to bring small children is Air Park JASDF and is interesting for adults too. Best of all  the entrance was free. Free parking on the premises too. There are simulators where you can pretend to be a pilot trying to fly a fighter jet. If you like airplanes or military stuff, you’ll love the place! The above photo is a F-2 jet fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, which was developed as a successor to the F-1 fighter. We made our first flight in 1995 and started deploying troops in 2000. This military airplanes museum is very educational and fun for all ages. A wonderful collection of JASDF aircraft, uniforms, and equipment. Being able to walk through the aircraft hanger with well-preserved old and new jet fighters was a fun experience. I recommend visiting if you are in the area. Visitors can try a jet fighter pilot's uniform and sit in the pilot seat of a jet.  Boarding reservations are accepted at the reception desk in front of the si...
