Watching Sunset at Hamana Lake

Sunset in Hamana lake is so beautiful. Especially because it's located in Nishi-Ku, the west part of Hamamatsu.

The combination view of sunset and lake is mesmerizing. There are several people with DSLR cameras hunting photos of the sunset.

There are also people fishing by the lake. Lake Hamana (Hamanako) is a brackish lake, where freshwater and seawater mix, it has a rich variety of fish. 




Lake Hamana is recommended for the cycling route. Lake Hamana Cycling Road is a cycling trail that was laid out an almost full circle around the lake.

Kids would swim in the lake during the summer holiday or look for asari (small clams). 

This spot is very close to Garden Park. You can even see Garden Park's observation tower. It's a designated free parking area on the side of Hamana-ko bridge.

Watching the Fukuroi Fireworks Festival

  As the sun set, I headed to the Fukuroi Fireworks Festival. This event in Shizuoka is famous for its amazing fireworks and lively atmosphere. This year, I wanted to see it for myself. I took the train from Hamamatsu Station to Fukuroi Station. The festival venue, Haranoyagawa Shinsui Park, was a 20-minute walk from the station. Arriving early is crucial because the streets get crowded quickly.  When I arrived, the place was buzzing with excitement. Families, couples, and friends were everywhere, setting up their picnic blankets. The smell of street food like takoyaki, yakisoba, and grilled corn filled the air. I grabbed some snacks to enjoy while waiting for the show. As it got darker, everyone grew more excited. The organizers promised a great show this year. Evangelion at Hamamatsu City Hall?! Only in Japan!
