Summer is Pool time!

Image
Kids in Japan waited the whole year for Summer to come. Summer means pool time, in school, and outdoor swimming pools and water parks.  I took my kids to visit one of the public pools in Hamamatsu. The Kamezaki family land pool, it is located right next to Hamanako bridge.  We came on a public holiday, the opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympic 2020, plus the beginning of Summer break for school kids. It was a very hot day, and many people wanted to cool off by getting in the pool. Because of the Corona pandemic, Kamezaki family land pool management is taking some measures to prevent the spread of Corona. One of them is by letting the visitors in little by little, so there won't be any congestion in the pool. We had to wait patiently outside for about one hour until we can enter the pool. It was worth the wait. The Kamezaki family land pool area is pretty big. There are several swimming pools, shallow pools for little kids, and a deep pool for adults. Some pools have slides accordi...

Watching Sunset at Hamana Lake

Image
Sunset in Hamana lake is so beautiful. Especially because it's located in Nishi-Ku, the west part of Hamamatsu. The combination view of sunset and lake is mesmerizing. There are several people with DSLR cameras hunting photos of the sunset. There are also people fishing by the lake.  Lake Hamana (Hamanako) is a brackish lake, where freshwater and seawater mix, it has a rich variety of fish.   Lake Hamana is recommended for the cycling route.  Lake Hamana Cycling Road is a cycling trail that was laid out an almost full circle around the lake. Kids would swim in the lake during the summer holiday or look for asari (small clams).  This spot is very close to Garden Park. You can even see Garden Park's observation tower. It's a designated free parking area on the side of Hamana-ko bridge. For more information and activities to do around lake Hamana, please visit our website https://www.inhamamatsu.com/

Let's enjoy seeing the inhabitants of Lake Hamana and touching them. Today was raining all day, I had free time and wanted to visit a fun place. I decided to go to Wotto, a small aquarium facility in Bentenjima, Nishi ward, Hamamatsu city. This aquarium is located right next to Lake Hamana. Lake Hamana, a mixture of freshwater and seawater, is a rare lake called "brackish lake" and is characterized by a large variety of fish  and creatures . "Hamanako Experience Learning Facility Wotto" is a facility where you can interact with fish and can be enjoyed by both infants and adults. Wotto is a small aquarium where you can  see the fish and creatures of Lake Hamana and  touch them in touch pool area and experience "contact with Lake Hamana".  Large aquarium A half-tunnel with a powerful 120 tons of water! You can see many fish that live in Lake Hamana, such as sharks, rays, and moray eels. There's a mini theatre that plays short original movies, see the...
