Hamamatsu Science Museum MIRAI~RA
Today I went to Hamamatsu Science Museum with my family after a long time, the contents had evolved much better.
The second floor is highly recommended. The companies that represent Hamamatsu, such as YAMAHA, SUZUKI, HONDA or ROLAND offer various exhibitions. You will be exposed to and experiencing explanations about the technology each company use, and the science that supports that technology. This gorgeous and fun exhibit is a must-see; only made possible because of the location here in Hamamatsu.
Since its opening in 1986, the Hamamatsu Science Museum has encouraged children's creativity through the "Science Mind".
The museum was renovated and reopened under the name "Miraí-ra" (means Future in Japanese) in July 2019, on the 33rd anniversary of its opening.

Hamamatsu Science museum wishes to create a new vision of the museum, opening the doors to the public so that they become familiar with science, and also striving to become a facility to cultivate children who love science and talents for the future.

The Hamamatsu Science Museum was built in 1986. Hiroshi Amano serves as the honorary curator of the Hamamatsu Science Museum, with the goal of "cultivating the heart of science". The exhibition is divided into five parts: “nature", "sound", "light", "power" and "space.".
It mainly introduces scientific experiments in the form of performances. The introducer will tell the visitors the scientific story behind each device and let us know that science is all around us.
Don't forget to check out the planetarium, it is a very cool movie watching experience.
The planetarium simulates the movement of the starry sky, allowing people to understand the relationship between the sun, the moon, and the planets, and vividly explain the natural phenomena of the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.
Today's movie was about Aurora in Iceland. It is so beautiful and mesmerizing.
You can also observe the microscopic world, and children can have a great time seeing tiny insects, fish, and seeds through a microscope.
After the new re-opened most of their display have English explanation. Even foreigners who couldn't speak or read Japanese can have fun experimenting with all the exhibitions.

There is a playground at the park nearby where even small children can play.
If you come by car, there are several coin parking lots around the museum.
The opening hours are 9:30-17:00 (extended to 6 pm during summer vacation)
Tickets: 600 yen for adults, 300 yen for highschool students, free for junior high school students and younger.
